Radio piece on the theatre scene in Oulu for German national radio
Oulu is the European Culture Capital 2026, for which I covered the world premiere of the opera Ovllá. Written by Sámi playwright Juho-Sire/Siri Broch Johansen, it tells the story of a Sámi boy, who falls victim to assimilation policies and loses his identity. The piece interviews the protagonist Emil Karlsen, director Heta Haanperä as well as the artistic and managing directors of Oulu Theatre, Alma Lehmuskallio and Anu-Maarit Moilanen.
